An active contributor for this blog, Mr. nos_com71 was kind enough to notify me about a firmware he found. It is from Polkomtel, a Polish telco. You can download the package from this link @ Norton Zone cloud. I had issues with the download, but using a different browser on another machine solved it for me.
I didn't install the firmware into my s-12, but as usual, I extracted it and confirmed its contents and version of V100R001C69SP103, which is quite new. In the Bjørn Grønli's spreadsheet the newest one he found is a SP102, but this Polish one seems to be a notch newer.
If any of you test this one out, please tell us about it.

Does it have DDNS ?
VOIP?
etc...
There isnt a firmware with all working
Good news a new firmware is always very welcome.

About the different features in firmwares:
I'm guessing Mr. Grønli started his spreadsheet, to get understanding about which firmware would have the optimal set of features. Looks like Telcos don't get it, why don't they release firmwares which would have it all.
Bjørn Grønli on :
I updated the spreadsheet and link to this latest firmware. It has most features, but not DDNS. Seems stable and good so maybe the preferred firmware at the moment.

Do you have any idea at which point the ping-hack was fixed? SP054 has it, but according to comments Germany telekom's SP104 does not have it, so I'm guessing SP102 or SP103 have it also fixed.

I see you updated the spreadsheet, but One thing i didnt understand.
- why the newest firmware (this polish one) as a older date than the latest one with DDNS that you have on list.
Im using your DDNS latest Deutsh Telekom firmware, and i like it alot.
Thank You

There isn't a single "official" firmware. Since the B593 is sold by telecommunication companies only, they get a firmware mod kit with the Huawei contract. They can tailor the firmware as they seem fit.
As the excellent spreadsheet indicates, telcos seem to do things differently here and there. When it comes to DDNS-feature, they simply don't see that anybody would use it and leave it disabled for a smaller firmware footprint.
John on :
Its strange there isnt an Huawei firmware with all options, maybe somekind of tech limitation for not having all the options ON.
I dont see any advatange for the telecoms not to push a all-working firmware.
Its good for the clients its good for the telecom companies.
Thanks again, great blog you got here.
Jari Turkia on :
The reason for not having all-the-features -firmware by Huawei is as I explained. Telcos do the selling and supporting what they sold. Some telcos sell theirs SIM-locked, some don't. Some bias the features and services they are offering, some don't have a clue and offer something at random.
On the technical side, B593 has 128 MiB RAM, the firmware images are in the range of 10-26 MiB. I'm guessing that there is 64 MiB of Flash (minimum). 128 or 256 MiB flash is not uncommon in modern devices.
So dropping some features is not about firmware size. It's about telcos "knowing what they want". They never do.

Do you have some tech to test the different freuquencys that the router can operate. Some firmwares have limited frequencys working thats why i ask.
What i mean is, example:
This Polish telco with the latest firmware says i went search and they only operate on 1800 MHz.
Could their firmware be limited to that Frequency?
Vodafone Germany sells their B593 limited to their 2 frequencys.
Just as example.
Thanks again
Jari Turkia on :
To test all the supported frequencies is very difficult. B593 does not indicate the frequency currently used and even if it would, it is impossible to say what possible frequencies are supported by the telco. For example in Finland they'll use 800 MHz in the countryside, but 2100 MHz in urban areas. What other frequencies there are, is uncertain.
John on :
here is an example of V2.0 (V200) firmware open source code, that i havent seen used by any telco.
http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=17924
Maybe someday we can have, i dont know the differences but this B593 deserves more firmware support with more options, its a really good device.
Jari Turkia on :
To repeat: that is not an firmware, it is source code.

What I did for the .bin was just simply edit firmware version number to match the C part. Original was C158, while Sonera's FW had C07; so 158 turned into 07+00(last digit on hex side) and it 'updated' just fine.
Conclusion is that FW just checks that last part (and maybe first part too, V200) that would prevent unofficial firmwares to be installed.

You do realize, that you're commenting of s-22 into an article about u-12?
