Telenor firmware for B593u-12

I was looking for a firmware for s-22 and minutes after finding the Vodafone firmware, a Telenor one popped up. It must be a really new one, as I cannot find any comments about it from The Net. The download location for the firmware version V100R001C00SP070 is at http://stup.telenor.net/huawei-b593/V100R001C00SP070/.

I didn't test this version either. If you do the upgrade, please drop me a comment. The version number and router compatibility information comes from extracted firmware header it says (in hexdump -C):

This is the the obligatory warning: if you have a s-22 DON'T update with this firmware. If you don't know which version you have: DON'T update with this firmware. Nobody want's to brick the router, right? It is expensive and all.

Hello Jari, I have read your blog about the Huawei B593 and I am glad to see that you have gained a lot of experience on this.
Tell me I try from external IP adress to access my B593 with camera on port 888 and temp device on port 8075 and that works well. I use port forwarding. Temp device has dyn dns. But when I try to access B593 from external same WAN adress but with no port (defualt port 80) number specified I get the answer https://192.168.1.1./html/push.asp. Why?

Let me see if I got that right: You're accessing two devices from The Net and have configured port forwarding for public IP-address ports 888 and 8075. But when you are using public IP-address port 80 your devices are unaccessible. And that's your problem? Well... I don't see the problem there. Either I misunderstood, or my imagination is not wild enough.

Sorry I Was a littel but unclear. I cannot access the routers admin GUI usually at port 80 (192.168.1.1 from inside) from outside. I get the strange answer:" https://192.168.1.1./html/push.asp." Why?

Don't you think it is a good security policy not to allow management interface access from The Net? How they implemented it is somewhat awkward, tough. The traffic is allowed to enter the box, but if traffic originates from public side, there is no service available, thus the "push.asp". IMHO no access should be allowed from the public side at all.

I see your point. My only wish is sometimes to access the routers web admin page externally to do some re-configuration or look at traffic volume (GB). It is common on other DSL routers though. So "push.asp" means that I can not access it and probably there is no port to access it from external side? Lots of thanks for your valuable thoughts!! Kiitos kaveri! The way I do that, is I have SSH-forwarding to a Linux box on my LAN. I open connection there with X11-forwarding enabled, then I start a web browser on the linux and get a remote-session to the B593. It is much more secure than the way you'd like it to work.

I updated my B593 with this firmware. I needed to rename the file to .tar.bz2 to get the update working.

Tryed upgrading my b593u-12 from Tle2 sweden. Uppgrade woks but lacks the external antenna opion. But does have both Voip and sms. Further moore, this telenor version as well as the danish 3 version and the finn version, lacks the option tho select what type of LTE band to use, in tele2 version 900mhz or 2600mhz can be selected, in the version only LTE.

For some reason the band question has become a FAQ. According to http://blog.hqcodeshop.fi/archives/127-Huawei-B593-different-models.html supports FDD bands 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2600MHz. All the bands you mention are supported, but you cannot manually select one. If you really, really need the LTE-TDD for higher speed on 2600 MHz, then get a s-22. But if you're about to stay below the 100 Mbit/s speed, you're already good and supported.

Thanks for reply. But I have different situation here. You see, I really need to strict only one frequency as I am doing this for lab LTE speed researches and not for home use :-)
I know the frequency range (ex 800 or 1800) of the BS I need to test and I need to stay in this frequency.

Meanwhile I found nice app http://www.nerve.org.za/mdma/ to control USB 4G routers. Through AT commands it sets LTE bands. Works on Huawei E398 just nicely;)
Will be interesting if B593 can also accept AT commands through SSH exploit you found.

Ok, thank you. I heard of TELE2-SWEDEN firmware for B593 which has band selection and thought you might know where to find it.

I see. To my understanding in all the current firmwares the band-selection is buried deep inside the radio-firmware (not the "firmware"-Linux we typically discuss here). There may (or may not) be a way to instruct the radio to operate on a specific band or bands, but no such knowledge is currently available. Sorry, I cannot help you with that.

When I bought B593, by default it be with Sweden&Latvian languages firmware. Can you tell me - where I can get this original firmware? Google can't tell me about that. Thanks!

There is no "default" as any regular off-the-shelf -device would have. Huawei B593 is not a regular nor off-the-shelf. Example: I bought mine from a 3G/4G specialized shop, who has sources with TeliaSonera. So mine had Telia firmware in it as "default". Typically people get their device from a telco with a contract, so the "default" will be that telco's firmware.

I've stated a number of times in this blog, that Huawei sells the devices only to telcos and part of the deal they will get a firmware modification kit. So at the end, there is no default as you would expect.

There is a Huawei-branded generic firmware, but it seems not to be generally available. I have seen screenshots of it, but I don't have it myself.

Hello,

Could you please tell how to find out which firmware is newer than other? In Bjorn Gronli's firmware comparison sheet firmwares are listed in pure alphabetical order. But theres also possible that the SPxxx number is the version number or that firmware date tells which is the newest.

I'm very grateful for every information concerning this subject.. Thank you!

I'd have to go with a yes on that one.

Every firmware upgrade does two things:
1) update router firmware
2) update modem firmware

The modem firmware has a lot to do with signal and frequencies and stuff.

No I don't. I have a number of firmwares for u-12 and and couple for s-22 (since, there aren't many available). An u-501 doesn't interest me, as they aren't available here in Finland.

Wizard: I'm not found, all settings looks set manually.
Ext Ant: YES (manual select)
VoIP: No
Mode Selector: Auto; 4G Only; 3G Only; 2G Only
SMS: No
DLNA: I don't know - what is it. Not see this abbreviation.

Thanks for those, I updated the info.

DLNA would be a multimedia storage service. Most firmwares don't have that, as it takes much CPU and storage space.

Ok. That's a measly FTP-server. It cannot display your H.264 files on your TV-set, like DLNA can.

Hi,

the other day I scanned my network with Advanced IP Scanner and the I saw HTTPS on my B593 router.
I can't access the HTTPS and wonder if it can have been hacked in some way??

Advanced IP Scanner shows a lock on the symbol for HTTPS

Which version of hardware are you running? An u-12?

Which version of firmware are you running?

For example s-22 is running with HTTPS, newer versions of u-12 firmware also support that.
